co-worker: ewww, what's that Andrew? (looking at my lunch)
ocandrew (me): uh, it's called beef (having Korean galbi and rice for lunch)
co-worker: oh, really? it doesn't look like anything I've had before
ocandrew: would you like to try some?
co-worker: no thanks! haha! it smells good, though
ocandrew: okay
- now about to carry-on a conversation with another co-worker -
ocandrew: hey, so you down for some Japanese food tomorrow?
co-worker 2: oww, that sounds good! you have a place in...
- first co-worker interrupts our conversation -
co-worker: now Andrew, aren't you Korean?
ocandrew: uh, yes I am (bit puzzled and a little annoyed)
co-worker: you don't like Korean food?
ocandrew: (pause) I like Korean food and Japanese food too
co-worker: oh, I see (laughs)
ocandrew: I like most foods, not just Korean
co-worker: I see. I should be more open to trying different things but don't you eat a lot of raw fish in Korea?
ocandrew: we can, depending on the region you're from. but aren't you thinking about sushi? that is more Japanese
co-worker: yes! I cannot fathom the thought of eating raw fish! no way! (pretends to shiver and be grossed out)
ocandrew: I guess it's not for everyone
co-worker: I will just stick to cooked fish, chicken and beef...or meat I am familiar with. Hahaha!
ocandrew: have a good lunch, Pat
